Stacy Robison, MPH, MCHES, President of CommunicateHealth, is an expert in health literacy and clear health communication with more than a decade of experience writing and editing plain language health promotion content for diverse audiences with limited health literacy skills. As a certified health educator and a self-proclaimed health literacy geek, Stacy has established a proven formula for communicating understandable and actionable health information to the public.
Xanthi Scrimgeour, MHEd, MCHES, is the co-founder of CommunicateHealth and a seasoned health literacy consultant. Xanthi’s 20-plus years of experience in state and local public health give her an on-the-ground understanding of the communication challenges facing today’s public health professionals. She has spent over a decade overseeing the development of consumer-based Web and print communications, including plain language public education materials for people with limited literacy skills. Her work synthesizes research-based recommendations from the fields of usability, health literacy, and health education.
In their first joint venture, Xanthi and Stacy developed a suite of health education materials for the Massachusetts Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program which received the Institute for Health Care Advancement Health Literacy Award for best published materials in 2006. Their innovative work has been winning awards ever since.
Sandra Williams Hilfiker, MA, is CommunicateHealth’s Director of User-Centered Design. Sandy brings a decade of experience in health communication, formative research, and user-centered design to the CommunicateHealth team. She has overseen numerous studies using a variety of communication and usability research methods to inform the development of messages, materials, and Web sites for diverse audiences. Sandy specializes in developing health Web sites for users with limited health literacy skills and limited experience with the Web. Sandy speaks nationally on developing usable health Web sites.
